Kind words from my lovely clients

I feel so fortunate to have had Merrewyn's support through the postnatal period.

After a really difficult start with breastfeeding - both physically and emotionally - Merrewyn's knowledge, encouragement and care gave me the confidence to persevere and continue to breastfeed.

Merrewyn is compassionate and practical. She provided us with evidence-based advice during the fourth trimester which allowed us to take a step back from the overwhelming amount of information that can be found online, at a time when, as first- time parents, we felt most vulnerable.

We will be forever grateful for Merrewyn's care. From her help with feeding positions, to just holding our baby to give us a moment's rest, she respected our needs and wishes which has allowed us, despite the challenges we faced, to look back on those early days fondly.

Dear Merrewyn,

I just wanted to reach out and thank you for all your support and care whilst I was navigating my breastfeeding journey with my daughter. Your kind, caring, knowledgeable and approachable manner meant you were able to support me phenomenally through phone calls and messages as well as in person.

Your knowledge of breastfeeding was vast, and your understanding of not just the mechanics of feeding but the emotional connections meant I could trust and rely on your support without hesitation.

I experienced a number of issues in my journey from tongue tie (needing to be cut twice), reduced milk supply (possibly from a traumatic birth), baby not putting weight on as quickly as expected amongst others. You were always there, supporting me with advice and understanding, and with practical suggestions on how to approach and overcome any and all of the issues I faced.

I was able to talk to you openly and honestly about the issues and my feelings surrounding feeding and was always met with warmth and patience. Your knowledge about using a pump, accessing other support when appropriate and being able to talk options through were invaluable.

You were also an amazing support when my breastfeeding journey ended. You immediately validated my emotional responses when I realised I was coming to the end of my journey and talked at length to me about the grief I was experiencing and helped me to understand that it was OK to be feeling as I was.

Without your support I wouldn't have been able to breastfeed my daughter as long as I did, and I will forever be grateful to you for giving me the tools I needed to achieve that. Without your open and honest discussions I would've ended my journey with a lot of unresolved emotions and unable to start the next phase in a healthy mindset.

So, thank you for everything! For giving me the tools and knowledge I needed to successfully feed my baby, the wisdom and understanding to help me realise and accept my emotional responses as normal and ok, and also for reminding me throughout the journey to look after and care for myself.

I will forever be grateful to you.

In all honesty we were so impressed with you both the level of knowledge, understanding and help has been so so amazing and we are now both doula lovers and tell other people who are interested just how valuable you are [sic].’
Indigo’s birth has brought peace, comfort and confidence. This home birth honoured what my body was doing, without rushing, without forcing, without threats, manipulation or fear. 22.03.23 was one of the hardest most magical days of my life and everything I could have hoped for.

The day of Indigo’s birth was the first day of World Doula Week, 22-28th March. It feels right to mention today, marking Indi’s first week, @the childscaim and @thepresentdoula – the most beautiful, supportive doulas I was so fortunate to have throughout my perinatal journey.
It takes a special person to serve mothers and their families at such a vulnerable and lifechanging time in their lives and World Doula Week will always remind me of the beautiful support me and my family received during their care.
It was clear from our first meeting that these women mean what they say and are prepared to support in ways that they can. I felt heard, held and blissfully happy I had them. Merre and Rachel really are the right people for this work and having them present at the birth of Indigo is something I will never forget. For Indi, being born into a room of beautiful, powerful and loving women with the highest intentions (as well as epic daddy Adam!). For Adam to be heard, guided and supported.
For me, Indi’s birth with the love and support from the doulas was truly beautiful. Both Merre and Rachel are holistic doulas supporting the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of birth and motherhood and I couldn’t be more grateful to have had either support throughout.
This birth was so sensory for me and it was the only way labour had any rhythm that I could trust in. I will always remember how Rachel and Merre held me, guided me, massaged me, encouraged me, washed me, fed me and so much more. Rachel’s magical hands and Merre’s soothing voice is a blessing I had the opportunity to receive. Doulas are magic. Thank you for being a part of our story.
